For years, the owners and employees of Cooper & Associates CPAs, PLLC have been providing quality, personalized financial guidance to local individuals and businesses. Our firm has demonstrated expertise in tax planning for individuals, closely-held businesses and their owners, as well as estate and succession planning. Focus areas include real estate development, retail sales, insurance agencies, restaurants, and tool and die companies, among others.

Our Team

Linda A. Cooper, CPA, CGMA

Linda Cooper has been a practicing CPA for over 30 years. She began her career in Dayton, Ohio with a national accounting firm. She has worked in firms in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan. She came to the St. Joseph area in 1992 and worked for Plante Moran. From 1997-2004 she lived in Lansing and worked for a regional firm headquartered there. She returned to the St. Joseph area in 2005. Prior to the successful launch of Cooper & Associates CPAs, PLLC in July 2015, Linda worked as tax manager in the local office of another area firm, concentrating her efforts on tax planning for individuals, closely-held businesses and their owners, and estate and succession planning, as well as representing clients before the IRS. Her many clients are active in real estate development, insurance agencies, restaurants, and tool and die works, among others. She is a member and past president of Southwestern Michigan Estate Planning Council and Lansing DeWitt Sunrise Rotary.

Mark Giffels, Consultant

Mark Giffels has been a CPA since 1987. He has worked for 10 years with Plante Moran. He served as Chief Financial Officer with a local community college and a local school district. Mark also served as an internal audit director for local businesses. He has extensive expertise and experience in tax preparation and financial statement preparation. Mark earned his Masters of Science in Accounting degree at Western Michigan University. He is also actively involved in the Community and serves as treasurer with two local non-for-profit organizations.

Lance Howley, CPA

Lance Howley earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting from Western Michigan University. He has spent his career serving the tax and accounting needs of individuals and businesses. His experience includes preparing tax returns, bookkeeping, using QuickBooks and developing and testing tax preparation software.

Donald Hermann

Don Herman graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a major in Accounting and Marketing. He worked for over 30 years as a financial institution examiner, coordinating reviews of the smallest to some of the largest banks in the State of Michigan. Currently managing the Berrien Springs office, he is responsible for preparing individual tax returns, bookkeeping, and collections. He has served as a Director and Treasurer on the board of Citizens Mediation Service, a non-profit providing affordable conflict resolutions. He is also currently a Director of the St. Joseph River Yacht Club.

Marian Ganas

Marian Ganas has worked for various CPA firm in the south suburbs of Chicago for 30 some years as a staff Accountant. She has an Associates Degree in Accounting and Computing. She moved to St. Joseph about 5 years ago and began working for Cooper & Associates in 2021. She has knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, and Word and tax preparation.
